Jr. Kindergarten
The Turquoise Otters:

My Intentions for the School Year

To introduce children to the excitement of learning and help each child discover that they are special and that if they believe, they can achieve. This Kindergarten Program is designed for students that are not quite old enough to attend a regular Kindergarten class, or are old enough, but need a little extra time to grow mentally and socially before they do so.

Homework Expectations & Procedures
Starting in January, this class will start to do homework. A small packet will be sent home Monday, and is due back by Friday morning. The packet will contain about 6 pages and will reinforce the concepts being taught in class. Students will have an opportunity to do some of their homework at our Homework Clinic, if you choose to sign them up.

Special Classroom Activities
The Jr. Kindergarten class will participate in a lot of holiday and seasonal activities; such as crafts, music, and learning fun. We will learn how to handle our emotions in positive and empowering ways. Every Wednesday each student can bring a sharing item that begins with the letter of the week. The students can earn “Kindercash” for good behavior, work, and helping. On Friday, they can spend their money at the class store and buy a treat for themselves!

Teacher Profile: Jenny Dellaway
I've been teaching at Rainbow of Knowledge since 1978. Most of that time has been with the Pre-Kindergarten Program, but the last 5 years I've been very happy in the Kindergarten class. I earned my Early Child Degree from DeAnza College many years ago. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, reading, going to the beach, crafts, movies and theater, my pets, and playing my guitar.

The Otters
We have chosen our mascot because it teaches us to let go of worry and pain and to lighten up and enjoy what life has to offer. Trust your inner knowing. Life is what we make of it.
