First Grade The Green Eagles:
MY INTENTIONS FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR:
To provide a program for the students
that makes them all excited about learning. To have the students be
empowered to help create the type of day that they would like to
experience. To help guide them to an appreciation of the planet and
all who live here. To learn balance in life. To have Fun!
HOMEWORK:
The homework packet is sent home every
Friday. The completed packet is due back on the following Friday.
Students are expected to do Book Reports once a week. They may check
out a book from our classroom library or use one from home. Spelling
words are also sent home in the packet for the students to study for
weekly spelling tests.
SPECIAL CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES:
We will do cooking class once a week.
In Music, the students will learn notes and simple songs on a song
flute. Every Wednesday will be sharing where they can bring items
from home. On Fridays in the afternoon the students will have “Free
Choice.” Once a week, the students will watch an informative video
and have a test (Green Room Test) every Friday. Friday will also be
when the students are rewarded for their accomplishments that week.
TEACHER PROFILE: Lynne Lewin I have been teaching
at Rainbow since it began in 1976. I have also taught 4th
& 5th grade but the majority of my time was spent
teaching Kindergarten. I have taught 1st grade for 5 years
and find this age group to be wonderful. Working with children keeps
me young at heart. I can't think of a better job than teaching and I
am blessed to be able to work in a job I love. In my spare time I
love to read, play golf, be in nature, and spend time with my family
and friends. I have 2 of the cutest dogs which come to work with me
everyday. Their names are Peanut and Sedona and they are Yorkies. The
students love spending time with them.
THE EAGLES: We have chosen the eagle as our mascot
because it teaches us to soar high above to get clarity in all we do.
The eagle teaches us to be proud and powerful. Also it teaches us to
be careful when dealing with others, knowing when to be gentle and
when to fight. The Eagle helps us to become strong leaders.
